About trauma therapy
“Trauma therapy is not just therapy: it is the restoration of dignity. When a person is emotionally wounded, shamed, or humiliated, their brain changes. Research shows that following such experiences, the brain regions involved in self-experience begin to shrink, particularly in the precuneus and the posterior and anterior cingulate cortex.
In simpler terms: A deeply humiliated person no longer wants to feel themselves. This internal withdrawal from the self, the loss of self-contact and inner rootedness, may well be the most painful consequence of psychological trauma. And it is precisely here that the deeper purpose of trauma therapy begins: It is not merely about treating symptoms. It is re-connection, re-embodiment, and the careful reconstruction of one’s dignity.”
